Recovering

Dad is home now and Grandma is around to help.  Yesterday they all took an outing to the playground (the snow has mostly melted! It was above freezing! And sunny! Miracle of miracles as far as weather goes).

Hospital Visit

Yesterday we took Sadie to visit Dad in the hospital.  We threw a t-shirt over his hospital gown to cover up all the stuff he's attached to (that's why he looks so lumpy).  Sadie didn't notice anything and was really happy to see him.  She's been asking where Dad is all week and we've been video chatting at dinner but of course that's not the same thing as the real deal.

Fun at Day Care

Here are some pictures we got from day care yesterday.  It's cold again here - spring taunted us for a week with temperatures in the 40's, but now we're back to well below freezing.  It seems like Sadie's school was making the best of it with some indoor climbing and fun toys.

Sadie is 21 Months Old!

It's hard to believe but true... Sadie is 1 and 3/4!  So much has changed since she was 18 months.  She has so many words now and even sentences.  She makes song requests when she's bored and twirls and walks backwards when she's being silly.  She picks out many of her own outfits (with additions from Mom and Dad for seasonal appropriateness) and she gets Mom and Dad a plate or a bowl from her own drawer when it's time for a meal.

We've also entirely abandoned using the stroller.  The heavy snow fall of the past month and a half made using the stroller nearly impossible anyway, and she's gotten so good at walking.  Today we went out to breakfast and then to a toy store and she walked the entire way there and back all by herself (for those familiar with Brookline, we went to Coolidge Corner and back).  When we got home, we took one last photo with the stroller and folded it up for storage.  Sadie said a ceremonial good bye to it - look for it again late this summer, but with a new resident!

Home Sick... but Recovering

Sadie had a stomach bug yesterday.  We'll spare you the details of that but she's doing better today.  She's home with Dad.  This morning she finally had some food and drink and then promptly went down for a 3 hour nap.  This seemed like a good day to stay in her PJ's and watch some television.  Dad put on the Cardinal's spring training and Sadie immediately asked for her hat!  She then went and got a ball to throw back and forth with Dad.  And of course, baseball is a great way to practice your numbers - there's some on every player for a little munchkin to name :-)

Hippos!

Sadie has been really into learning her numbers and letters over the past 2 months.  Books about the alphabet and/or ones that count up and down have been a particular obsession of late.  At this point I would say she reliably knows about half the alphabet and all the numbers from 0-9.  She likes to point at letters and numbers we know when we're walking down the street or waiting for the train.

Happy Purim!

This year Purim falls right in the middle of the week, which makes it hard to break out the full on festivities.  We just didn't have the energy to get it together to go to the party our temple throws, alas.  But of course, everyone has time to eat some hamentashen - even Sadie!  Here she is proudly showing off her cookie...

Sadie's fashion choices

For a while now, we've been giving Sadie some choice in what she wears.  Usually we'll hold up two shirts/dresses and let her pick which one she wants to wear.  Recently however, she's been expressing specific preferences right when we open the closet.  The trick in that situation is to make sure whatever she demands is seasonally appropriate.  Yesterday she picked a sweater (great) and tights (not pants) so it took some convincing to make sure she put something else on as well.  Finally when I offered her a summer strawberry dress to put on over the sweater she consented.  It actually made a pretty cute outfit.  (Thank you to Jiwon and Ben for the dress!).
