New Playground

Today we had to run some errands in Harvard Square and so the whole family went to Cambridge in the morning.  This seemed like a great opportunity to visit the playground in Cambridge Common.  We heard a while back that it won some kind of award but hadn't had the chance to try it out ourselves.  It... is... AWESOME.  We don't have a ton of pictures, but Sadie had a great time climbing things and playing with the water table.

Tuesdays with Dad

This past Tuesday we finally were able to return to our regularly scheduled programming of Sadie spending the day with Dad!

Dad took Sadie to her dentist appointment (she has all her teeth now, except her 2 year molars).  But they also had time for some fun at the play ground. If you look carefully, you'll see the car she got from the toy chest at the dentist carefully placed next to her right foot at the top of the slide.

Then as a bonus in the afternoon, Sadie took a bath.  For those of you in the know, you'll see this as quite the achievement that it is, since for the past month we have definitely been struggling in that department.  But with some well placed bribery (thank you Sesame Street bathmat, Elmo book, talk of "playing in the water" rather than taking a bath, and tons of patience from Mom and Dad!) we were able to achieve success.

Happy Independence Day!

Having a toddler around means really every day is independence day ("No Mama's turn! Sadie's turn!) but yesterday was the official one the rest of the country celebrates.  We had a BBQ on our front lawn.  This was quite exciting as we hadn't hosted one sine we lived in our very first apartment together in 2008...

Sadly after a short period of hanging out outside, it started to rain, so we had to move the party into our front lobby

The rain didn't last too long though, and pretty soon we were back outside, enjoying our food and playing with our scooter...

Urban Toddler

Dad is traveling this week and Matti picked Sadie up from day care yesterday.  Here is a paste of the text conversation between Matti and Mom while Matti and Sadie were on their way home.

Matti:  Dude. I got confused and told her we are going to take the green train then the red train

Mom:  HA did she correct you?

Matti:  She said "No. Red then green"

Mom:  Atta girl

Matti:  I have been told

Happy Father's Day!

These photos are about a month old, but we're posting them now, in honor of Father's Day for Grandpa David.  Here we are, on a family trip to Starbucks!

Sadie is Officially 2 Years Old Post!

As you all know, we recently celebrated Sadie's 2nd birthday.  She has truly become her own little person.  She likes to do things herself ("Sadie's turn!") and we've been encouraging this behavior.  Most days she puts on her pants, shoes, and coat herself (she still needs help with her shirts/dresses).  She also started carrying her own lunch to school in her very own backpack (thanks Grandma and Grandpa!).  She likes to express her preferences strongly but generally she's still a pretty happy kid.

Sadie's 2nd Birthday Party!

We had Sadie's 2nd birthday party this past Sunday.  In the morning, we got everything ready:

and of course our birthday girl in a party dress (pictured here playing with some newly acquired presents)!

We headed to the park where there was lots of friends and family!

And lots and lots of people to hug...

And of course, we sang happy birthday and blew out a candle (with help from dad...)

A Visit from Grandma and Aunt Renee

As many of you know, Grandma Lora and Aunt Renee were here for a visit to celebrate Sadie's birthday.

Last Wednesday they went to day care to pick her up...

After that it was a full 4 days of non stop fun.

There were lots of trips to various parks...

 Some visitors from back home who had relocated to the area...

And some hanging out on the stoop and making phone calls!
