Weekend - Friends and Sun!

We finally have some weather we can call spring here.  There are actually visible green things all around and the temperature has gotten above 60!  As a result we spent a LOT of time outside this weekend.

We also had some friends - Andy and Nikki - visit for the weekend.  Sadie had a lot of fun charming them (and trying on Nikki's sunglasses)

We also took a longer walk to a different play ground and visitors meant more people to play with Sadie on the swings...

 

Meanwhile, in Cambridge, our friend Matti had quite the surprise for us.  She was participating in a charity event where companies sponsored chalk drawings and immortalized the AxB clan as dragon chalk art!

Return of Dr. Sadie

Today was "costume day" at Sadie's day care, so Dr. Sadie has returned!  This is the best I could do photo wise before 7 am...

New Bookshelves

We got Sadie some new bookshelves a while back but it's been a long slog to get the assembled and installed.  This past weekend Chris came to help attach them to the wall and then Sadie helped us arrange all the books yesterday.  Here is a picture of the room (Sadie loves to climb into the brown chair and pull a book off her shelves, but of course, when I tried to take a picture of this she refused to comply...)

Photo Roundup

Life is slowly adjusting back to normal here.  Sadly Grandma Lora had to go home this week, but we'll see her again soon for Sadie's birthday!

Day care sent us some photos of Sadie doing a 5 piece puzzle.  They were very impressed, but faithful readers of this blog will know that they are clearly not challenging her enough :-)

Yesterday, Sadie spent the day at Babulya and Deda's, with her cousins (as she usually does on Thursdays).

When we came to pick her up, she gave everyone a big hug - especially Eitan (Michal and Dovid are in the background)!

 

Baking Cookies with Grandma!

What kind of visit from Grandma would it be if it didn't involve baking cookies?  Obviously impossible!

Yesterday was a rainy, foggy, miserable day (disregard my previous comment on spring) and thus an excellent day to stay home and make cookies.  These are, of course, Passover macaroons (recipe supplied by Shalom Sesame Street).

Maybe someday it will be spring?

As you may have heard me mention one billion times on the blog - Boston has had a hard winter.  Our day care is pretty intensely committed to out door time but the quantity of snow and temperature has meant practically no play ground time all winter.   Thankfully, this situation is improving.  The play ground is finally usable (after the snow has melted, and the snow damaged fence and structures have been repaired).

And here is a bonus photo of Sadie playing in doors at school... (she's really into balls right now and is actually pretty good at throwing)

Working around our new limitations

As part of his recovery, Dad can't pick Sadie up for a couple of months.  That was definitely a big piece of news to deal with.  However, since coming home, we've been working out how Dad and Sadie can spend time together.

A big change is that we converted Sadie's crib into a toddler bed so that she can climb in and out by herself (without Dad having to lift her).  We were a little worried about how she would feel about the difference but she actually loved it!  She climbed right in and got cozy.

 Then after a couple minutes, she went and got herself a book!  (Later in the day she successfully took a nap in the crib.  Given that nap time is our most fraught time of the day, this was a big relief!)

Next, I think we will try turning the high chair into a booster seat and teach her to climb in and out of that herself too.  And here is a bonus picture of Dad reading to Sadie (good thing we got her those chairs a while back!)

Chag Sameach!

We had big plans for Pesach this year - alas the universe had different ones.  Thus instead of going to and hosting big sedars we opted for some quiet ones at home.

Recovering

Dad is home now and Grandma is around to help.  Yesterday they all took an outing to the playground (the snow has mostly melted! It was above freezing! And sunny! Miracle of miracles as far as weather goes).
