Sadie's Adventures has hit the big time

How do we know? We got our first submission of fan-art.

Reader Matti K of Massachusetts, disappointed not to have received a picture of Dr. Sadie before her (Sadie's) bedtime, decided to take matters into her own hands.

Matti writes:

"Since I have no photographs, I have to reconstruct how Sadie must have appeared as a stern medic in search of Brooklineites (sic) in need of rescue."

While she may not have been able to anticipate the pink scrubs, big thumbs up for the backwards Cardinals cap and trusty frog at her side.

Introducing Dr. Sadie!

Fun fact - it's really hard to photograph a hyper toddler in the dark!  So please forgive the poor quality of these photos, because Sadie completely refused to be still the entire time.

Here she is in the morning (pulling a toy thermometer out of her pocket)...

In the evening, we took Sadie trick or treating on a street near our house that is a destination for the neighborhood.  The street gets blocked to traffic and many of the residents go all out with decorations, sitting on their porches with bowls of candy.  It was a really incredible holiday atmosphere and Sadie had a *blast*.  She was running everywhere, holding her little bag.  She even got up the courage to come up to one or two of the bowls of candy and place some in her bag. We were still working on the concept though since she tried to put the candy in her bag into the bowl a couple of times.

Below is also a video of her just running down the street, high on adrenaline and the overall weirdness of the situation.

Her costume also included a stethoscope. She enjoyed playing with it all night but only put it on at the very end (she wouldn't let us put it on her before then).  We did manage to squeeze in one picture of the full Dr. Sadie ensemble.

Korean Food, the Scooter, and Lots of Walking!

Sadie's become really good at walking places reliably and at a reasonable speed.  In addition to being able to walk to and from the park, as well as to the @Union diner, today Sadie walked home from Coolidge Corner with us (about 0.6 miles)!

We also played with the scooter a bunch at the park yesterday and she's really getting the hang of it (none of the videos I took turned out good).

Last night Matti and Mark came over and we all went out for Korean food.  Sadie was awesome at trying all sorts of new things including Miso soup, fried sweet potatoes, and rice sticks.

Weekend Activities

The weather this weekend was perfect in a New England fall way.  On Saturday it was warm and sunny, so we spent lots of time at our local park.

Sadie figured out how to spin herself on this structure and had a lot of fun (until she got too dizzy...)

On Sunday it was sunny but suddenly quite cold so we decided to go back to the Children's Museum.  Once we walked out of the station on our way there, Sadie wanted out of the stroller.  She enjoyed looking at the river as we walked.

We had fun hanging at at the museum, but I didn't take as many pictures this time...

Let's Go Bowling

Sadie has been enjoying her stuffed animal bowling pins for a while now in a lot of ways:
- Taking them out and putting them back in their basket
- Learning animal names and noises
- Using the basket as a drum
- Playing "fetch" with the ball with mom and dad (she still hasn't quite gotten the rolling it back part)

One thing that was missing, however, was the actual bowling...

Well, she caught me playing a bowling game on my phone and was transfixed, so I thought, why not set up the pins and see what happens?

Note: Story was from Tuesday, video is from the second time we played, on Saturday, but I think you'll forgive us for this minor poetic license.

Weekend with Babulya and Deda

Sadie spent this past weekend with Babulya and Deda on the Cape.  Thankfully Babulya and Deda supplied us with lots of pictures and videos while we were apart.

They went to the boardwalk...

They went to look at some fish at a local restaurant...

They went to the playground...

and played with fun toys...

It looks like everyone had a good time but Mom and Dad were very happy to see our munchkin again.

Being a Cardinals fan means you can have a playoffs growth chart...

Holiday Weekend

Last week was Rosh Hashannah and this past weekend was Yom Kippur. The family went to services both holidays.  Sadie heard her very first Shofar blow (though I think she was mostly confused).  On our way home from services this Saturday she was starting to look very sleepy in the stroller.  We feared ruining her nap so we made her walk much of the way home.  Luckily, it was a beautiful fall day...

When we got home we got ready to host break fast.  We made a children's table out of Sadie's new furniture and she had fun exploring it's new location in the house.

 On Sunday we then went to a friends house to "help" them build their suckah (translation: we stood around and ate their food while the kids ran around the back yard).

All in all it was a very nice weekend :-)
